How can I help?

  • Sign the national petition to Stop HS2: Anyone can sign it. We need 100,000 signatures to force the government to debate the matter in the House of Commons: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/stop-hs2.html . For a paper version http://stophs2.org/news/378-petition-government-stop-hs2 .
  • Take part in the consultation: Please see our Consultation page for advice and information about how to give feedback to the government about your position on HS2. The consultation closes on the 29th July.
  • Write letters to your MP, MEP, David Cameron, Philip Hammond (secretary of state for Transport), Norman Baker and members of the Transport Select Committee. Letters are taken seriously and the number of letters Councillors and MPs receive is taken as an important indicator of public feeling ( For contact details please see http://www.writetothem.com/). For sample letters please see our resources section.
  • Tell your friends and relatives: Encourage them to sign the petition, respond to the consultation, write letters to their MPs and to spread the word. This is not just a local issue, but will negatively affect the whole country economically and environmentally. For MPs addresses see our useful links page.
  • Protest demonstrations: There have been many protest demos already, but we will need to continue protesting in whatever way we can, to get our message across to the government. We need to make it clear that we will fight HS2 and make sure that our votes and our rights are counted. The government takes protests seriously, and if they don’t see it, they don’t think that anyone is really bothered about it. For information about up-coming demonstrations, please see www.stophs2.org and sign up to the mailing list.
  • Donate to the campaign fund: We need funds to increase awareness of our campaign and to contribute to legal costs, alongside other action groups and local authorities, in order to take our fight to court. To make a donation please give cash or cheques, made payable to ‘Quainton Parish Council’, to Allison Roberts at Quainton Village Shop.
  • Visual displays: Just displaying a car sticker from Quainton village shop, or putting a poster in your front window or a placard in your front garden, can really help spread the message.
  • Special skills and miscellaneous donations: We are currently looking for businesses to back the campaign, contacts with celebrities and influential people and the media, and help from other voluntary groups.

If you think you can help us in any way with the QWAG Against HS2 campaign, please contact Sarah Anthem sarahanthem@btinternet.com or Katie Turnbull katie@againsths2.co.uk.
