Quainton and Waddesdon Action Group Against HS2
Who are we?
QWAG is a local action group formed by the villages of Quainton and Waddesdon in response to the proposed new high speed rail network. This project, designed to cut journey time to the cities of London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and finally Scotland, will be at huge expense and cost to the country for decades to come, will benefit few and will irreversibly devastate hundreds of communities.
Our Aims
Our aim is to stop High Speed 2 by working collaboratively with other action groups along the route, with national campaign organisations and with local and national media.
How?
We have already joined the Federation of Action Groups, a voluntary body that brings together action groups up and down the line. Chaired by Jerry Marshall, it combines and co-ordinates the efforts of small and large communities to produce a more powerful impact on the campaign.
We have close links with the main national campaigns, Stop HS2 and HS2 Action Alliance. We are able to fundraise and support national initiatives, and similarly they can provide support and advice to our local efforts. We have a local database of residents who want information and support our local efforts. It is helping us to become a unified voice.
